Dana Anderson

Trustee

Dana has spent the past 25 years working with teens—as a high school teacher, advisor, camp director and now-founder and Executive Director of valo, a Maine-based non-profit that takes teens on weekend retreats. Dana believes that by supporting teens’ emotional well-being, they discover who they are and what they stand for, so they can then impact their communities, one connection at a time.

Dana was inspired by SEEDS when she taught at Freeport High School and is honored to now be on the Board. Dana also serves as President of the To the Top Foundation Board and coaches middle school cross-country.  No matter the setting, Dana finds great reward in working to empower youth. Dana lives in Freeport with her husband, Erik, their three sons, and a bunch of pets. She has a new love of marathons; when she’s not pounding the pavement, you can find her with her family skiing, biking, hiking, or diving into Casco Bay.
